Windshield fluid pump

Not working. Line is clear and I just repaired the governor.
I'm seeing 12 volts at connector when I push switch.
Some corrosion. (anyone know surefire way to clean off?)

Is there a secret to removing the pump for inspection?
Or is there something else I should be checking?

Pencil erasers are good for polishing up contacts, if you can get it in there.

Since you say it has power to it (you did ground the meter to the connector ground pin, right) then the pump is junk. If you wanna verify this then put an ammeter on it and try to engage the pump. If you see current draw, that proves power is reaching the pump motor and it's time for a new pump. If I remember right it just pulls out... it's friction fit into a rubber grommet.

There's a little toothed retaining ring holding the pump into the washer fluid reservoir, but it just pulls out. A new retaining ring should be provided with whatever new pump you purchase.

If the retaining ring is out, then the pump is just stuck in there. Get a grip on it and give it a good pull.

something else

When I got my truck,

someone previously had cleaned the windshield spray nozzle out with a TOOTH PICK!'

haha.

I noticed it one day when I went to clean the windshield off and saw it lodged in the nozzle.

Universal ones have two separate plastic type nozzles and each separately sprays the drivers and passenger side.

on a 88 ford in this case , only has tow nozzles contained in one that sprays both the drivers and passenger side simultaneously.

so I got a large stitching needle, large enough to fit it the nozzle and moved it around. its adjustable by the way, ball and socket type nozzle, and managed to get the obstruction out of nozzle. sometimes they get corrosion on them also.

I know its April but when the windshield washer fluid isn't temperature freeze rated, it wont go though the line.

if wash fluid is leaking out , a plastic line or the pump itself is broked.
