washer pump troubleshooting

On my '78 F150, when I push the washer ****, nothing happens. I pulled the connector to the pump and it is getting 12V when I push the ****, so the wiring is fine. I pulled the pump from the washer fluid reservoir, and put 12V to it directly from the battery. It doesn't do anything. I'm assuming it should spin when it's on? I don't want to buy a new pump for $15 only to find out that it's actually a problem with clogged hoses or with the nozzles being clogged. Is my diagnosis correct?

Yep. Mine did the same thing. If you put 12v to the pump and get nothing then the pump motor is dead.

Closing the thread

Just to close the thread, I replaced the pump ($14 at Autozone) and all is well now. No clogged lines either, just a bunch of gunk with the first squirt or two!
