When I was in school for my Aircraft maintenance Certs. Classmates
always wanted to barrow things from me. I guess that was because I
had already been doing mechanic things for so long I had some very good
tools and things that were not on the "must have list" that came in so
very handy to do some odd job. What I did was take one of there tool room
chits as a deposit for the item. If at the end of the quarter you did not turn you
chits in you did not get to move on. Sp that gave me some leverage.

there's a guy in Kansas that I owe $20 too.. if I can find him today would give $100 just to square the debt (helped me waaay back in the 80's when I was a starving college kid)
my ex owed over 3 grand thru the courts- I said good ridance
Any more when I loan something out, I remember the saying
"if you loan a friend a $100, and you don't see him again--- it was worth it!"
