Needing some assistance.

Hi all, first time on the forums but they look pretty helpful so I figured this would be worth a shot.

I just recently bought my 08 6.4 and am fairly new to diesels in general, but I had a completely broken (in half) EGR OC pipe. I have gotten it all unbolted, and the bottom half of the pipe out, but cannot get the rest of it. I'm trying to do all of this without lifting the cab, due to not having the experience or the equipment, but everything is really trying to push me in that direction.

I'm really just wanting some input on this whole situation. I have a new pipe sitting here already just need to figure out how to replace it. And also if it would be possible to lift the cab up just a few inches without having to disconnect everything.

Thank you,
Mike

Are you talking about the EGR coolers? If you have the lower off then the top one or vertical cooler should be a breeze.

Its not the cooler, its the pipe that comes out of the drivers side bottom cooler and connects to the up pipes. I can try to find a good picture of it and post it if necessary.

Now I understand. Some have had luck with just taking the cab bolts loose and using some jacks and just lifting a few inches.

Use some 2x4's between the frame and cab.

Can I actually do that without having to disconnect everything, draining all fluids, and such??

Yeah there should be enough room to give you a few inches.

Disconnect batteries, take the air box out and I think there is enough then.

May need to disconnect the wiring harness right behind the air box.

Would i have to jack up both sides at the same time? Or could I get away with just unbolting them all and raising that corner slightly? Sorry to be dragging this out, I'm just trying to do this without causing an even larger issue :P

Get some boards. Work your way around all four corners of the cab. Raise a little, insert board, move to next one and so on.

You only need a few inches I am sure to get to the pipe. So not much.

but remove all the bolts before you start.
