i'm rebuilding my c-6. it wouldn't down shift unless i came to a near stop and had a delay going into reverse.
i found a very thick, sticky sludge in the intermediate servo. this stuff was like moist clay. i also found it in the valve body.
i don't know where it came from but it's gone now and i'm going on with the rebuild. i did the valve body and installed a shift kit last night on the kitchen table.
The oil in the int. servo doesn't circulate so some sludge is normal after many miles. Do clean everything in the transmission thoroughly and replace the torque converter.
