PLEASE HELP: C6 intermediate servo acc valve spring broken
I have pulled the C6 transmission on my 78 F150 for overhaul, and just found the bigger (outer) intermediate servo accumulator valve spring broken into pieces.
I have searched sources in Sweden, without luck so far, and we soon need to put the transmission back together and into the truck again since it occupies workshop space, and I need the truck.
Now: can I drive the truck with just the smaller (inner) spring, or do I need both springs? If I decide to go with just the smaller spring, what will happen to the transmission?
Workshop manual says "Intermediate servo acc valve not used in police, taxi, fleet", -do I need the valve and the two springs at all or can I run the transmission simply without?
The 1-2 shift may be a bit firm, you can put the one spring thats not broken back in, it will help reduce the shock going into 2nd. I have left them out before and I didnt think the shift was uncomfortable.
Yea I agree worn clutches in the direct drum will cause a 2-3 flare.
