2 Dead Batteries
Thanks for the reply. I haven't Been able to reproduce the battery voltage drop since I took the video. I have clocked a good 100 miles on the truck since without any issues. I've had my volt meter hooked up the whole time averaging 14.4v-14.5v. I'll chalk the battery drop to a bad reading.
Tonight I installed the new rear dana 60 diff cover. It looks really good IMHO
Hey does the rear cover have the dip stick built into it or is that just the 44 cover?
Can't see the full face of the cover

No dipstick on the dana 44 covers, but these things are pretty much bullet proof. Each weights around 20lbs.
I'm a few days out now since i've had this issue, but I'm happy to report that the truck has been running strong since I put in the optima battery, but I think it's developing an intake manifold oil leak :-|

I had to do mine a few yrs ago the end up going to a 1976 disc front axle.
These seal are next to the carrier bearings and can install once ring & pinion have been removed.
The seal area was warn down to far to hold a good seal. Plus hard trying to find good parts like the axles to rebuild it. It's best to find a disc brake axle cause once you pull the ring gear out it will need carrier bearings also.
