Electrical/starter problems

Ok, so I don't get the 1970 Bronco out enough, it sat for about 5 years when I last fired it up two years ago. Now, I am trying again but the starter will not turn over. The meter shows 12 volts on the battery and I tried jumping off my 2013 F150. Just a slight drag and then the clicking. I tried jumping the two terminals in top of the solenoid, but only a small spark. 1968 Mustang 289 motor. Any ideas, I kind of stink at electrical.

Thank you

You need a fresh battery. Even if you get it to run, jump starting and then running a defective battery is hell on the entire electrical system and may cause $$$ in damage, roasted stator in the alternator and fried diodes etc.

So, your saying it will not even crack with a jump?? Don't want to buy a battery yet, just looking to move it to a different storage location. But if I need to...................

Well if the battery is seven + years old and, it sat for two years, it's almost guaranteed to be a block of sulfate by now. You could try charging it for several days but imo defective batteries are way more trouble than they are worth. Unless it's a genuine emergency always install a serviceable fully charged battery in lieu of a jump start.

Bad connections and neglected grounds will also contribute to this.

"…Bad connections and neglected grounds will also contribute to this…."
2X what e said.
It's a crap shoot @ this point. Leave it alone and tow or go thru it to find the real problem. I'd start (if doin the latter) w/a fresh battery as suggested.

Got a friend w/a tester, meter or simple light? Start @ the begining & go all the way down (continuity @ the key?… etc, etc.)

BTW: I suck at ele too

Good Luck, keep talkin, wanna know how U do ~
