I know a lot of us are purists around here, but I want my beast tailored to me. So my question is simple. What is the best type of paint? Not brand, but basic type. Enamel, urethane, etc.
urethane is by far better than the old paints. I would recommend doing a base coat clear coat if it were mine. The urethane top coats can now be bought with a UV inhibitor that will protect the brake down of the paint and help keep the gloss for many years to come. One thing for sure you don't want to breathe the fumes from urethane. Richard
Sounds good to me. How much would I need? I know TCP Global offers the paint. I've got an 81 F250 Supercrew long bed. And any specific primer to use with the uerthane paint?
well i use a primer sealer when i paint. but if it is rough i have also used the epoxy primer. it took a gallon of pre-reduced to do my regular cab 85 f250. Painting the bed is alot of surface area. I used a full gallon of clear which made 2 gallons of reduced paint. I gave it three full coats and from front to rear. since my truck is white it is a lot cheaper than than some of the color coats. Especially red they are proud of that color... The thing I really like about the epoxy primer is it builds real fast and when you wet sand it before you shoot your color coat it covers swirl marks really well. Sorry I was so long getting back to you I have been out of town. Richard
