I have a 1960 F100 but am told the engine is a mid 60's. Can anyone identify it? Also, my fuel pump is dead and so I'm wondering if anyone recognizes it and where I can get one?
thanks
I have a 1960 F100 but am told the engine is a mid 60's. BS!
Can anyone identify it?
Over the last several days you have asked this question in several different forums. Now you are asking it again.
I was the first member to give you the info and this was two days ago. First time you asked, you said it was a V6, then you said in another post it was the original I-6.
But it isn't a V6 or the original I-6, because I told you that the I-6's used 1952/64 have the intake & exhaust manifolds on the left (drivers) side.
I said it was either a 240 or 300 I-6 because the intake & exhaust manifolds are on the right (passenger) side.
I also told you it's either from a 1965/66 F100/250, 1974/79 F100/350 or 1980 and later 300 because it uses an acceleratorcable.
I posted 2 parts catalog pics of the engine showing the accelerator cable and the bracket that retains it to the head.
I also told you how to ID the cable and to look for the engine's casting date code on the block.
According to the 1964/72 Ford truck parts catalog, the C4AZ-9365-B cartridge fuel filter that fits inside the C3AZ-9355-A canister that threads onto the pump was factory installed in 1965/72 F100/700's 240/300's.
The same set up was also used in multiple other 1964/72 I-6 & V8 Passenger Cars/Trucks, Bronco's and Econolines.
Ditto 1973/76 F100/350 360/390 & 1973/78 500 series and larger trucks with FT engines.
You can buy this pump from any auto parts store, so you won't have to drive to Batavia Street in Orange and buy it from Truck&Car.
Where do you think Truck&Car bought it from? A local auto parts store!
Two days ago I posted in the forum that was appropriate for my 1960 truck. You advised me that the engine wasn't original and could possibly be from the sixties or even 70's....or even later...and was a 240/300.....so I posted a second time here....in a forum that might be more appropriate for my engine.
The main reason for the post here is to identify the fuel pump......and if anyone recognizes the specifics of what the engine is then that would also be helpful.
So two different posts in two different forum years.
Why the attitude? Your help is appreciated, but criticism of me posting twice with similar but different questions is ridiculous.
uknunn, FYI there is no visible way to tell the difference between the 240 and 300 engines. The stroke and a few internal things set them apart.
