Cold Air intake

Hey guys just got a 93 f350 7.3 IDI non turbo. Just wondering what you guys do for cold air intakes for these? Or do you just have to use the big round stock filter?

You can use a 6637 from NAPA but honestly it is cheaper to buy the Spectre. That and it is made to be ran like a CAI, the 6637 is not, it just happens to be the right size ID. Here is how I made mine; https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...de-intake.html

Don't take this as Gospel as it's a super newbie response. I always figured that a CAI on an IDI was worse for the tear as it allowed more crap in the cylinders. Again, not much research here, but I figured a better exhaust would provide more ponies than more air in.

You're on the right path, that's partially correct. You don't want an open air element under the hood as hot air only hurts power and economy. You want it to breathe easily in and out so optimum is turbo with a 3" exhaust, but of you need to do it on the cheap remove that restrictive factory muffler and go with a glass-pack or a turbo muffler.

On the intake end pull the soup bowl or restrictor plate, whichever one you have, and make a cold air intake as linked above or make or purchase a cowl induction.
