Short "ram" air vs "cold" air intake

what do you guys like?
ive got a few questions about the short ram vs a cold air setup:

1)shorter the intake, louder the turbo?

2)turbos heat up the air more than NA so how cold is the cold air really?

3)aluminum vs steel vs plastic? heat soak?

4)filter location? heat shield or not?

5)tubing size and path for better flow?

just trying to get some info for these old trucks, everything on google seems to be about NA cars

i know there is a bunch of intake threads, so here are some popular links/topics regarding new filters/cowl/setups ect...

any other good links? or any other questions and answers would be appreciated!!

thanks for helping me understand the pros/cons of each!

i can tell you that i am more than happy with my cowl intake. i am going to change my flex tubing over to some 4" steel tubing for a little smoother flow and a much nicer look.

I say move both batt. to the passenger side, build and air box where the battery used to be, and cut a nice big hole in the core support. 4" aluminum would be ideal, but im sure plastic will work. Are you planning on an intercooler?
