Have you done a search for any other blocks in your area? I know there has been a "good" shortblock up this way on craigslist for over a year now for $175, is your block standard bore?
Oh, ok... it is not very clear in the photo, but it looks to be the oil pressure sending unit reading from the turbo oil feed
X2. The idit has the oil pressure sending unit on top of the turbo. It's a little disappointing for me to see another build thread. Only because mine KEEPS getting put on hold! But I'm behind anyone building these idis. You're talking to the right guy(Justin) for any info that you will need. Also you're on the right forum for support and info. Best of luck for your build!

Thanks, I am stoked to be doing this build.
Yeah the block is standard bore and there isn't a whole lot down here. I wouldn't mind driving up to Seattle to get a good block.
Update: Spent a little time on it today. Got the injectors, fuel lines, glow plugs, valve covers, and some odds and ends pulled off. One head has some serious sludge in it, but the other side has some rust on the rockers from the cavitation.
Update: Once I got the heads off, it was pretty apparent that the #3 cylinder had all kinds of burnt up rusty crustys from burning diesel and antifreeze so I think I found the culprit.
The 7.3 is down to the shortblock right now and I dropped the guys at Portland Engine Rebuilders a call today. They said to bring all the goodies down once everything is apart and cleaned up and we will get everything measured and assess where to go from there.
