EBPV Malfunction???

*Note: If you are eating or about to, I would come back later ....*

I have noticed a wheezing sound when the truck warms up that I would say sounds very similar to a dog gagging and getting ready to barf. It is louder than the exhaust at idle. I have also noticed that I can make it stop by tapping the brake pedal and then the idle will increase by 100-200 rpm and then drop back down. I have done a little reading and I believe this is somehow related to the EBPV although I don't fully understand. Any other thoughts or explanations???

The ebpv will fluctuate like that. Not sure why but it does. I think it's common. Someone else will confirm.

Yes... with an explanation. The EBPV needs oil pressure from the LPOP to operate. If the idle is too low, the LPOP doesn't have enough drive pressure to over-ride the exhaust backpressure. The backpressure and the EBPV are having a slap fight like a couple of yellow minions from Despicable Me... trying to take control of the butterfly valve. Once the idle is up a little, the LPOP sends in reinforcements to the EBPV's side, and that closes the matter... until you step on the throttle or brake, or the truck warms up and the PCM (Gru) gives the command to shut off the EBPV.

So as the truck warms up and the high idle and EBPV start to fluctuate, is that normal or a sign that the LPOP is starting to get weak?

Beat me to it .... Also, would setting the truck to the high idle setting on the TS 6P chip help give the EBPV more help and warm the truck up faster? I would try it but with the recent squealing belt (another topic) issue I don't want to **** off my neighbors ...

*I live in a cul-de-sac and if my truck starting at 0530 isn't enough to wake them up/ **** them off I don't want to add a loud squeal to the mix. Neighbors are all cool so just trying to not be a D***

No, this just means the idle is low. The idle needs to come up before the EBPV is activated... but your truck is behaving like many others. You are not having an issue.
