CEL codes need help

Hello everyone. I am new to the diesel world and need some help. I bought my first diesel vehicle recently, an 08 F350 xlt drwd. The following codes came up when I hooked up the scanner to it.
P0684-Glow plug control module

P0420-o2 sensor or cat

P2002-dpf bank 1

P2452- ?????

What would cause these codes to go come up and what can I do to correct them? Also from time to time, my truck will let out white heavy smoke from the exhaust. It comes and goes. I've heard that diesel trucks smoke sometimes but I don't think what my truck is doing is normal.

And last but not least, wiring fault on trailer message. How can I correct that problem. Thanx in advance. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

It sounds like you have some codes which hopefully are just sensors, or maybe loose connections.

Being that you're new at diesels, and seeing that 6.4's and newer trucks are a little finnicky and expensive to fix, I'm thinking you should either take it to the dealership, or find a friend or someone local who will tech you some of the ropes.

The glow plugs shouldn't effect how it's running once it's warmed up a bit, but DPF/emissions codes could make the truck stay in regeneration mode.

In regeneration mode, it will constantly try to clean the DPF exhaust filter, and there will be excess fuel and smoke, and poor mileage.

Are you hooked up to a trailer when this is happening?

Recommend clearing all codes and then start over.

Go for a drive and see what you get.

Also what are you using to retrieve the codes?

I'm currently getting 10.4 mpg. Not sure if that's a good thing. Also I noticed that it has excess oil in the motor. I heard that could cause the smoke. I'm gonna replace the egr and fix the issues with the codes.

Whoa... put the brakes on.
Don't waste money on parts till you find out whats actually wrong.
Sounds like the truck is in constant regen, and thus getting a lot of fuel in the engine oil.

Do you know for sure the EGR valve is bad?
Sounds more like some sensor or wiring issues.

10.4 and excession and p2002 code...if you have warranty take it in. You are making oil. Dumping excess fuel.
