Glad to hear. Most people who get in a close encounter like that don't get off easy. I was once riding with my brother in his truck with a ranch hand rear bumper. It was icy that day and we were sitting at a red light. Then all the sudden we get rear ended by a dude sliding with his wheels locked up in a brand new black chevy silverado. There was a receiver hitch sticking out and it put a MEAN dent in that Chevys bumper. Then the guy backed up, cut across the ditch, and drove away. We pull over shortly later to find the ranch hand bumper perfect and the trailer ball had a black scuff on it from the chevy bumper. It's just a trailer ball and it wasn't even bent. We just let it go and kept driving. To this day we don't know who it was or what happened. As soon as I bought my truck, I hunted one down and recently had it installed.
I was lucky too. Rush hour traffic. I was in my lane on the freeway. Didn't matter since he was a wife load. He was moving fast too.
I noticed on the video when you first went back to the truck bed there is a sign that says that you have surveilance cameras. It might be a good idea to put one overlooking that area. My son has his business broken into repeatedly, most of the time the idiots see his sign and then look around for the camera which gives the police a perfect shot for identifying them.
I'm glad to hear that the old guy had good moral character.

That's funny cause when we went to get the bumper at the culprits house,, I looked at him and held my arms up and said "c'mon man,, were recording here". Hopefully he got the hint. I did leave that same bumper on that trailer that next night as "bait". Lol. It stayed put. we're about to move to a bigger shop and I'm considering doing another couple live streams for after hours surveillance. It's nice that YouTube archives the video for free. It'd b cool to have 4 1080p shots of the parameter. Although the live feed playback seems a lil grainy from YouTube.
Just get a camera system that has online streaming built in. A couple terabyte hd and you should be good. Putting a system in my shop as soon as it comes in. Only 720 recording though.
