Might not be a bad idea to check the bulb in the wts light. Maybe there is a bad bulb and a different issue with the no smoke. Just a thought.
I did. I swapped it with the WIF light bulb. Not getting the quick little flash of the CEL either, but I haven't checked the bulb on that one yet. I hooked my scan gauge up to it and it won't do anything. It comes on, and then goes right back off. Definitely PCM related. I'm hoping it's just a ground issue and I can find it.
Iirc there is a couple grounds that bolt to the driver side finder
Yep, there is one back by the IDM, and one up front. Two to the core support on the driver side, and two on the pass side. Tomorrow I may take some wire and ring terminals and bolt to all the grounds and run them to the neg posts on the batts instead of using the jumper cables. May not be getting a good connection. I'm gonna check every ground pin in the PCM plug for continuity back to ground also. I would think it has to be a ground or wiring issue because I know the PCM I swapped in is good.
It really sounds like an electrical issue to me as well, and since there are so many thing that aren't grounded, I think you're on the right track.
Let me know if you need a set of fenders to bolt everything to....you know, just for testing purposes, lol.
Keep up the good work, Bill. I think you're close to making it fire.
I think it will run. Just gotta get this figured out. And I would LOVE to have a nice set of black fenders........for testing purposes of course. Who knows how long I may have them though.....could be years
I went out a little while ago and took wire with ring terminals and tied all the grounds together and ran them straight to battery negative and got the CEL flash and WTS light. The GP relay is bad so I jumped it across the two big posts, and after about 3 long cranks she fired right up! Engine sounds really good too! Idles nice and smooth, and revs real smooth. The fuel bowl and filter were clean, and as smooth as it revs, I don't suspect any bad injectors or o-rings. Now let's just hope the trans is good
