"SIXLITRE" TUNE ON AN 1983?
I was looking at a 1996 truck with the 351 before and i didnt end up getting it. i was thinking of doing the "SIXLITRE" tune. I found this 1983, now as you prob know the 83 is carbed while the 96 isnt. So i was wondering if anyone knows would this tune work on this motor or would it hurt it or just do nothing at all? thanks for the info guys

It includes advancing the timing to 13btdc, hotter coil, msd cap, bigger wires and gapping the plugs to 55.There is a lot of info if you search on the fullsizebronco forum.

There are trade-offs to everything. Advancing the timing is common to do, as long as it's in moderation and it will still crank over in the summer when it's hot, and not ping under load.
The hotter coil will put more stress on your Ford ignition module. I personally would not do it, I would run the MSD 6A if you wanted a hotter ignition system.
MSD makes a nice cap with brass terminals.
Larger wires are ok I guess.
Larger gaps will give you a bigger spark, but that also puts stress on the rest of the system, another reason to run a MSD box. And you will have to change the plugs more often. As they wear the gap increases, so if you purposely increase the gap you will accelerate the time when the gap is too large for the spark to jump, causing a miss-fire. The factory gap is a compromise for performance and longevity of the plugs.

I have done a fair amount of re-search into this tune so that's why i didn't bother explaining it because i just wanted the opinion of people who already know what it is. Franklin2 you seem to know of this, do you think that the pros out weight the cons. In addition I would like to add this will be a summer truck and will most likely only be driving 3 months of the year.
