Our 6.0 is at the family lake place. My wife and I don't get there much, but got a call from my parents yesterday that the PS/PB quit. Thought the ps/hydro boost was out. Father is not that mechanical and decided to have to towed in to the Ford garage.
I thought we should have the cooling system flushed while it is in the shop. About 86k miles and it is a early 2005 build. Collant has never been changed as far as I know, my Uncle bought the truck new. Since I am 300 miles away I cannot go to the shop and talk to them.
Question...do we need to tell the dealership how to flush a 6.0 or will they "know"? Use VC9? Replace coolant with what? (Ford Gold?). I need some guidance so my father can talk to the shop...
Honestly if the spread is fine now, I would do a dump and fill. Flushing may plug a now working cooler. Go for a coolant filter kit too. I would switch to cat elc1 rated coolant.
Exactly Benny!!!! We are at about $630 parts n labor for a proper flush, parts n labor. Btw,, labor is $400,,, but I try and get everyone to do it themselves. It's be nice to pull a truck in and get right to work. I've been thinking about adding another hundred to the labor cost. It's one of those things that I price not to sell. But I keep selling it.
This is a pic of one of those flushes. I've spent almost 2 days before flushing. I need a still at the shop. Lol

Anthony it looks more like you making beer.
You have the dark lager and then the light pale ale.
But really.
Is that each step or do you have a few between each jug?
