Locked keys in my 1979 ford and can't find extra set. Brand new paint job too and live way out in the country. Any easy way to get in? Hoping I can remove the slider window somehow to get in. Can't get in through the vent windows because they are locked tightly in place. I know, it's embarrassing. I can do it the old fashion way, but don’t want to hurt the paint on the door.
Is your slider old? I get into my truck by sticking a flathead screwdriver (large one) between the center strips, then taking a smaller flathead screwdriver, placing it on the latch, and whacking it with my hand to pop the latch open.
I've tried something similar, but it seemed to put a ton of pressure on the slider and I don't want it to break. But, I've got few options at the moment and i'll give the flatheads a shot. Thanks!
Sucks living in a place where ya gotta lock your truck...hell mine is always unlocked...then again, ya can't really steal it because if starting it doesn't wake the dead, its exhaust sure will!
On the other note...good luck getting in. My backup plan is to punch through my rusted out floorboard if I'm really in a jam...
Take a shoelace, Tie a small loop in the middle. Hook the lace on the inside of the door, use a sawing motion back and forth until the lace works itself inside. Hook the door lock on the loop, and then twist the shoelace until the loop is tight around the door lock. Pull straight up.
Don't think the shoelace will work because of the way the doors are set in. I have broken into these trucks with a pocket knife and once with 2 spoons, but I did it for a living for 18 years so had a little experience. Coat hanger is best bet. One way ould be to bend it into a U shape and try to catch the bottom of the lock ****.
take the clip that holds the cap on the mastercylinder and its bent just right to fish thru the wing window and turn the latch, unless you have the ones with the button.

Amaze your friends with an expanded vocabulary!
It's called a "bail" -i.e. "master cylinder reservoir cap/cover bail".
i used a butter knife to get into mine once or twice through the wing vent..... also if you have any buddies with 67-79 (possibly newer) ford trucks ask to borrow their keys for just a moment..... i have a stack of ford keys i keep for just such an occasion and about 80% of the time i have the right key.... somewhere.....
