Well I have a 73 F250 with a 360 and a 4 speed. Truck will pop and spit after 3000 rpm's or If I put the pedal to the floor. It'll misfire and backfire to the point where It won't even accelerate. Just a couple days ago we replaced the intake, carb and air intake with all new edelbrock parts, along with the vacuum lines, so it's not a vacuum leak. The truck did this before and after the new parts. Thoughts on why it's doing this? Could the timing being a little off make it run so bad? Let me know
Yes timing off or jumped time will make it hard to start and run like crap. But if it did it before all the work, that is what you need to figure out.
Might be a stuck valve.....did you replace all those parts in hopes of fixing the problem? Ever poured a little trans fluid down the carb (when the truck is running) to break off the carbon?
You have to hand run the throttle, to keep it running and it will white smoke like crazy, but might help it.
Do not get to carried away with the fluid, and ck timing and wiring first.
