EGR Valve Position Problem
EGR Valve Position Problem
Okay, so I have a code (34) saying the EGR Valve is not closed properly. It's an 88 302.
I am a mechanic and I have my Brick Snapon Scanner so I've done a little tinkering with it but I want to eliminate that code completely.
What I've noticed is that if you unbolt the EVP sensor from the valve, the sensor rises a tad. With it unbolted and resting of course I have no code, but I can't leave it like that cause the valve won't operate. Soon as you tighten it down the code returns.
By the way the EGR Valve is brand new. Truck hasn't gone 100 miles with it installed. I swapped the EVP sensor from my other truck, and the code is still there. That also has to be swapped back because they are different, one gray and one black and that indicates they give off different signal voltages. So I'm going to get a black one to put back in it, but I'm afraid the problem will still be there.
Anyone else dealt with this before?
