1992 EOD4
my first post have read a lot of posts and got a lot of good info my issue a little long..
I have 1992 7.3 IDI in my Cabriolet van. when I got the truck year or so ago ran great shifted good. Then after a 300 mile drive it would not start when hot after a couple of hours it would restart then the fiasco's started, Was told a few things , ended up being injector pump. had a shop put it in still did it after that .Took it to another place come to find out the timing was a tooth off? since then (the issue I have now)thru first and second little smoke when it drops to third which can be at 20 mph OD at 25 mph smoke pouring out. it takes it a while to get up to speed it did not do this before the issues very little smoke thru all the gears. Also I just put a Hypermax turbo on it .that drop between 2nd to third to OD dramatic I can be in OD at 25mph unless I am really on the throttle I hope this makes sense

however he removed the old one incorrectly so he couldn't install the fresh one correctly.
the second guy figured out and fixed the first guys mistake and fixed the timing gears,but unfortunately he didn't know the FIPL/TPS had to be set correctly.
maybe take it back to the first guy again and let him set the tps.

just kidding! lol do this yourself.take your time.

entering od at 25 mph.....she must bellow the old black smoke and go like a 3 cylinder.
i bet the egt's are through the roof.yikes.you know,this is a good time to just replace the sensor too before spending too much time setting an old one.least get it close though before driving to the store for a new one.
