I just read the " how to safely choose the right wire size and type", and was very informative. I am making a Duraspark II harness and have ordered all the connectors. I've been looking for wire online and around town and have found this 16 G Primary wire in a few colors at a local discount store. Here it is on Ebay 16 GA Primary Wire 13 ft Brown | eBay
It does not specify what type of insulation this is,TXL, GXL or SXL. When I called the company that make the product, she said that it would take a couple of weeks to get back to me. I would like to figure this out sooner then a couple weeks. Has anyone used this wire under the hood? Thanks!
With all the options for high-quality wiring out there, I don't see the point in risking it with some mystery wire, especially from a place that takes 2 weeks to get you information. That means they import it and have no idea what they have. It's not even that much wire. I buy spools of SXL primary wire from Summit. It's a little pricey but it's accessible and I know what I'm getting. I have spools in the garage starting at 18 AWG all the way up to 10 AWG which covers pretty much everything I've had to do.
You can also get primary wire from the local parts store for cheaper than the Summit SXL stuff and it's labelled a little more intelligently - the stuff you posted looks like a bag of dinner mints.
