Got my first CEL at just under 40K miles. P4023, Redundant temp sensor range, so looks like I get a new DEF tank sensor. Of course they are on national back-order still. One would have thought that Ford would finally have these in stock but no.....
Before anyone says it, I know, delete and I wouldn't have the issue...
Deleting is not always the answer. Especially if you travel cross country.
I know I'm deleted, but I'm not trying to say that is the answer. To be honest, it rarely is. I'm curious as to the "especially if you travel cross country" statement. Is this because of the concerns of a breakdown a Ford garage wouldn't work on it, reliability, or what? I'm not trying to start an arguement or even trow stones. I am legitimately interested in your perspective.

Yeah, in case you have a failure that needs diagnosed. You would need to return to stock in order for it to be diagnosed.
Now once all warrantee's have expired then I guess it is up to you.
I travel coast to coast..well not into CA so far from home.

Ok..thanks. Returning to stock for diagnostics can be done in just a few minutes in the truck (obviously not reinstalling the parts that are now missing), but so they can bypass the tuner and diagnose as they need to. Obviously, the fact that it's tuned/deleted is common knowledge at that point. Good point though. I never thought twice about doing it myself.

They can diagnose it with it tuned and deleted no problem. The local dealership did mine when I broke my fuel injector, and all they did was take it off before they reprogrammed the IQA code. After the IQA code was inputted, they put my tuner back on and gave me the truck back. No problems at all except some dealers might not like it. I agree though I would worry about getting stopped in CA, part of the reason I won't go through there. That and a couple of other laws that I don't agree with!
