still trying to find out the cause of my miss and getting desperate here....lmao....where is the knock sensor on the 4.6 engine? found a sensor bolted into front of head behind p/s reservoir on lh side.but not sure if thats it or not.if its not what is it? and what are the resistance reading for them?
thanks...!!!
That is the cam sensor. I believe that the knock sensor is under the intake in the block.
Not sure on the resistance readings. I think that the knock sensor actually generates voltage when pinging is heard.
I would suggest driving it with a scan tool hooked up to watch all of the sensors and such before replacing a bunch of parts.
Ya know...I thought about that. am wondering why my mechanic didnt drive it with that hooked up. sheesh. about the sensor, guess the cam sensor is clean now too. LOL. didnt see sensor in the valley pan area under intake will look some more. thanks
OH...I asked ford dealer today, he said there isnt a knock sensor???? how is that possible?
ya know....I unhooked the temp sensor on top of engine under intake. so far its not missing. so far being operative word. will wait to see. did notice the fan runs continuously with that off. making me think, once the fan comes on for any reason previously to this missing issue, it stays on until car is shut off, ac on or not. if i turn off car and restart it stays off til something kicks it on again. makes me go hmmm. can a temp sensor messing up cause such a odd problem? unless i cleaned something else up which fixed it. will run a day or so, and if it still doesnt miss, will hook up temp sensor again. JEEZ if thats what it is all this frigging time.....
If it sees an open temp sensor, it will default to run the fan to prevent overheating.
It is now running in limp mode and running richer than normal. Sounds like you have a lean condition when in closed loop. I would see if he can drive it with the scan tool hooked up.
