Odometer vs Scan Tool

I had my truck at the dealer today to clear a DEF CEL and order a new DEF tank heater.

When I was talking to the writer, he mentioned that with 71,000kms (the amount on the code reader) it may not be covered by warranty. Fair enough.

I was driving away with my wife and looked down at my odometer and realized that it only has 55,000kms on it.

I called them back and let them know, the writer said that sometimes the scan tool is wrong.

I'm just wondering, 15,000km wrong seem a bit odd to anyone else.

I'm going to take a picture of the odometer tomorrow with tomorrows newspaper in the picture. I don't know if it'll ever be a hassle, but I want to make sure. If all else fails I have oil change records from new that I can pull up too.

Has anybody else seen this?

Yes, you would have to divide the scanner dog kilometers by 7 to obtain the actual mileage!
