Heater core

Heater core
I have a '76 F350 Ranger XLT extended cab pickup with 460 and factory air. Starting to smell anti-freeze in the cab, but floor below heater/blower is not wet. I'm waiting for warmer weather to replace thermostat housing gasket which is "weaping". Could be the blower is picking up the smell from that. Regardless, since I'm still on the factory heater core I think it wise that I find a source for a replacement. I would appreciate one of you pros giving me a source and part no. I've searched the web, and I see there several sources, but not sure any are the exact replacement I'm looking for.
Thanks

I might do the same this spring, probably just go with a NAPA heater core. This model or similar.

That aluminum Spectre pile of crap from Rock Auto will require making your own gasket.
The one I posted from Laurel Mountain Mustang is a direct bolt in.

NAPA will not have a brass core, they are pretty much extinct. I spent several days tracking the core I posted above down when I replaced mine a while back.

The Rock auto image is aluminum, you can tell by the crimped on fittings. A couple of years ago they were easy to find. Within the last year or so it seems everyone is simply offering the Spectre brand.
Tasty? If you mean expensive I guess you get what you pay for. I'd rather have an original core and use the OE gasket than save 20-30 bucks and have to make a new gasket out of foam padding.
I now have 2 or 3 OE cores in stock. Ran across a couple on ebay and didn't hesitate to buy them.

Stay away from aluminum Chinese cheap chit. I just went through three of them. The kept
blowing out under hard acceleration like passing. ND Bill found me the part# for the Ford
part and I ordered that. Of course the sent the wrong one as it had the wrong pipes
on it for my application. To short and bent the wrong way. So I took my original Ford
core and the new one to a freind that has a furnace and appliance pluming type
business. He un-soldered the wrong pipes and lead soldered in the correct ones.
It has worked flawlessly now for about 4/5 months. So go with Ford factory parts.
Where ever ya can. It's worth the extra bucks.
Why didn't I ship the core back and get the right one? Look into shipping to Alaska,
especially if it is trucked through Canada.
