Heater

Happy Monday. When I turn on the cabin heat, I get smoke and antifreeze leaks on the passenger side floor. Any ideas on what's broken?

Heater core. If factory A/C equipped truck, you get to the heater core by removing the glove box. This is not a difficult job and takes approximately 1 - 2 hours. Some do it in much less time.

The heater core is not expensive and you should replace the two hoses attached to the heater core.

Heater

Thanks. Will the antifreeze need to drained from the truck to replace the heater core?

Nope. I just replaced mine not too long ago and I just clamped the hoses off before the heater core. Only lost a couple teaspoons.

I used small needle nose Visegrips on each hose. I put some electrical tape in the jaws to be a little easier on the hose. They don't need much force to close 'em off.

There are purpose made tools for this...Harbor Freight has them.
