You do not take the plate off, unless you think it has been damaged somehow.

I'm pretty sure that Yahiko's post was stating the opposite, that it is not a sacrificial anode for corrosion as the originals are simply steel. I believe the purpose of the brass replacement plug is so the brass threads would strip if overtightened or cross threaded rather than the HFCM, since brass is softer than the HFCM. Though the replacement (brass) plugs are only needed to be finger tightened, I think that would be the purpose of using brass.

Diesel is not really a conductive fluid and there for would not need
to have a sacrificial anode at all. It more that the byproducts of the
algue are chemical corrosive.

Brass is less reactive with aluminum than steel. I used to have a
chart that showed what metals reacted with each other.

Wouldn't you know it, mine just came in the mail,and I just drained mine yesterday.Im not taking another fuel shower.
