Won't start/ rough idle
HELP!!!!!
I have a 2002 F350 with a V10, this just started happening where at times the truck will turn over but won't run... after a few times of trying to start it I pull the key out let it sit for 5 seconds then put the key back in and runs perfect..... now at the gas station the other day it started but ran like it was on 4 cylinders... I turned it off and restarted it and runs perfect
Heading to Kansas next week to pick up my boat and don't need problems, any suggestions?
Thanks

Tough one . You are NOT saying that it is just "hard-start when cold" , otherwise I would suggest IAC (Idle Air Control Valve) clean up .
You did not mention any CEL light ( I am presuming there is none ) , but it does not hurt to connect a scan gauge to see if anything "pending" , that might give you a clue .
If you have a fuel pressure gauge , you can connect it to fuel rail port ( when acting up ) see if you have 35-40 psi fuel pressure .
At the absence of any clue , I would recommend some DIY checks ;
1- Change fuel filter, 2- Clean up MAF sensor, 3- Check all vacuum hoses around throttle area (hoses of all diameters) with particular attention to PCV hose and its elbows (cracks ?? ) . 4- Run a reputable injector cleaner.
Good luck,

There are no lights or codes to read but I will check just to make sure, my 1st thought was fuel filter..... not a bad idea to add a fuel pressure gauge to make sure.
How do you access the MAF.... I see the plug but tried pulling it out with no success.
And where is the IAC located on the 2002 V10.... I have changed one out on a 2000 expedition just not certain where this one is located.
Thanks

IAC valve is behind the throttle , near firewall . It is not located in a friendly area .
MAF is just behind the air filter (downstream) .Some folks unplug and remove it in order to clean it (removal may require some torqx screwdrivers). I just open the air intake hoses joints and sprayed CRC brand MAF cleaner from front and back (without removing MAF sensor) . Do not touch sensor wire or use anything but MAF cleaner .
You can search in Youtube.com for some useful videos on how to.
