Telescoping mirror frozen

Any suggestions on how to free up a manual telescoping mirror stuck in the extended position? I've put quite a bit of force on it and it won't budge. Doesn't appear to be any access behind the mirror. Any help??!!

Any chance that it is actually frozen?

No, it's not frozen. When I operate the other mirror it seems to "pop in" to place when fully extended. I'm wondering if there is some type of ridge at the end and that it's hanging up on this one.

I had to ask it's been COLD. Mine hold a little at the ends but nothing excessive.

Well, Im really not thinking I'll get any answers. Guess I'll have to bite the bullet and visit the bone yard hoping I find one in halfway decent shape.

you could try and spray PB blaster it the mirror using the red straw. shoot some up the legs towards the inner slip mounts and let it set for a day or two before you go looking for a new one..

I did try some WD40 shot up through the joint of the arms the best I could with a straw but not behind the mirror. Will try that too but with the PB blaster. thanks

How long have you owned the truck? Could someone have changed out one of the mirrors, and one is "fixed" and the other "adjustable"? https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...g-mirrors.html

Yeah, my dads old early '99 had mirrors that looked like mine that do telescope, but his did not. It took us a while to figure that out. Lots of PB wasted on those damn things...

OK. Sorry for being such a BOZO. The truck is new to me. The previous owner must have changed out one of the mirrors to be telescoping, the other is not! For the life of me I couldn't figure out why one didn't retract. I pushed the mirror to one side and can see there is no sleeve for it to slide into. Again, sorry for wasting all your time!

No waste of time, you learned, and can share it with someone else sometime.

On my E99 before i installed the 05-07 setup, the driver side I believe was the only one that moved in and out and the passenger side did not move and the same with the little fish eye, driver side did not move and the passenger side did move. I could be mixing up on which side but am 100% positive that one moved and the other does not.
