I have an 05 super duty, 5.3 with phaser issues. I am making my own lockouts, and was wondering if full advance is the best setting, or should I put it somewhere other than full advance? I aam making the lockers with alumiweld rods, using an old phaser as a template. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Are you going to have the truck tuned for fixed cam timing? I'm not an expert on engine timing, but I think this is a lousy idea. You should replace the bad phasers and fix it right.
I plan on retuning the computer. This is a brand new long block with 500 miles on it. It started running rough at idle, and threw a bank 1 cam sensor code. I looked in the oil filler spout and saw the spring was broken on the phaser. After removing it, I opened it up and all five vanes were in pieces. I do not want to go through this again. I replaced the engine myself, and did multiple phaser, chain related repairs on the previous motor. Maybe I should have gone with a diesel?

So the phaser died on your new engine? Is it under warranty? These things last for hundreds of thousands of miles in most cases, I would get whoever sold you the engine to make it right.
