That's why I said a properly sized pipe is just fine straight piped. I never said go running 3 or for that mater 2.5 inch exhausts on a stock engine.

So you are going to run dual 2.25"? Because that is about what you would need to equal one 3" pipe

Do you guys think that with no cat, 3inch pipe into the 10 series muffler then dual 2.5inch out and dump before the rear tire, I will have back pressure issues?

I doubt you will have any issues with a setup like that. A single three inch pipe that splits out into 2.5 inch duals will not have any issues with flow at all and should allow that engine to breath plenty.

What your putting on right now should do you plenty of good and I doubt you will loss any torque with that setup. Adding that cat would only add back-pressure and you don't want any back-pressure on a four stroke engine, it would be very tiny but it would create a little back-pressure but not enough for you to notice. Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

Ahh I love SLP

Although my truck doesn't have a 460, I've got 2.5 inch straight pipes from a 'Y', from the stock cats. It sounds ok.....but there are Chevy's with Flowmasters that sound much louder. I have a feeling that the cats may be getting clogged. And although I live in a no-emissions county, I don't want to pull both off. I'm thinking maybe just pull one cat off and see how that works!

Ok so I managed to finish the exhaust this weekend. Cat is out, Y pipe is in, and it sounds great. I liked the change in tone, and it doesnt crackle and pop all that much. Its probably twice as loud but I am really satisfied with the sound. Ill try and upload some pictures and maybe a video.

I like hearing my engines and I mean real engines not some little engine that sounds like a wet fart.
Yeah, amen to that. I always laugh when I hear some kid's buzzing fart-can muffler with it's 5" tip go down the street. Reminds me of a weed eater.

OP, that's awesome, glad you got it done. Waiting to see the video.

The tube we used for the EGR were bout from Rona of all places. 1in steel piping. Did it all in one day, and Im VERY satisfied with the sound. Tips made much more of a difference then I thought.

Sounds good man. I like it... reminds me of my old 460. Wish you were somewhere where it was safe to let her run wide open... miss that sound.
