A week ago my 4wd stopped working. I've diagnosed it to be the hubs. I took them apart regressed everything and put it all back together. Everything looked to be in good shape for the most part, I noticed the snap ring came off the back of one so I put it all back together and called it good because it seems to be functioning like it should.
The opposite side doesn't seem to want to spin to lock by itself even after being greased. If I just twist the switch enough it doesn't move where as the other side will free spin all the way to lock.
Theres really not much to this design it's about as simple as it gets. Am I missing something? Any help would be great. I did try to look up maintenance on warn hubs and haven't seen anyone with a problem quite like mine. Unfortunately for me I don't have the receipt of the hubs when I bought them 3 years ago and I don't want to have to fork over $200 if I don't have to. Thanks
I'll be contacting there customer service today thanks for the tip. Rotun I didn't over do it. To me it looked like there was enough grease already. I wiped them out and applied a little more I figured it couldn't hurt since they weren't working anyways.
Superwinch hubs are the way to go on these trucks. That weak *** spring that Warn puts on doesn't do the trick after awhile. Superwinch's has no spring it is a mechanical wedge. Positive lock every time. I had Warn premiums and they were junk. I got warn to replace them under warranty and sold them to purchase the Superwinch set, which was cheaper than Warn by the way.
