No more clunk when turning!
My problem was the hubs would not disengage in 2wd
For all you SOTF guys, I just popped the center cap off my front wheels and found a manual hub setup...I just unlocked them manually. No more clunk. Forget the shifting in/out of 4wd hoping they'll unlock themselves...

If the hubs you speak of are the same as mine then
the lock either puts the hub in auto or manual lock.
It does not unlock the hubs.
It is there for when the vacum system failes. You
can lock the hubs and get out of trouble.
Make sure the axles are unlocked. They may of been stuck in the lock position. Either you jarred them loose by messing with the hubs or you locked
the hub. It may of been jumping out of engagment.
and making the popping sound.
