will a zf5/6 bolt in behind a 4.2 V6? its in a 07 f150

ok just curious why not? i kinda miss the big truck trans feel, plus mine feels like it needs a rebuild.

Because the bolt patterns are different.

ah ok that is perfect, thanks, figured it was worth the shot right? also is it possible to rebuild the Mazda tranny without the synchros?

You mean to just leave the existing synchros in there? Yes.

no as in REMOVE the synchros and rebiuild it without them

Probably not. Why would you do that? I drove an old non synchro Clark a few times and it was terrible.

becuae i drive a CMV with a non syched 10 speed, and kinda got used to it lol

Apples and oranges. You will not make your trans operate like an HD trans by removing the synchros. Shift it as designed and enjoy it.

To make it shift like that you'll need to remove the synchros AND replace all of the gears with straight cut gears. The gears in there now are helical cut. They are not going to ever shift like the 10 speed you're used to without changing the gears.
Nobody makes straight cut gears for this trans, so you will need to design them and have prototype gears cut. When we had this done at Ford we would usually spend close to $1
million to get a prototype set designed and made. Maybe you could get it done for less.

Actually the ZF5 from a small block will bolt to that. More effort than what it's worth behind a 4.2. Gotta have the sycros though.
