Just got this truck 68 bronco with a courier body. Need help with the alternator wiring. The body harness has 3 connections and a plug. But the alt has 5 terminals. Previous owner said the old alt was fine with all the connections but bought a new alt and now the wires dont match. Any help would be aappreciated. Thanks
pete,
Welcome to the site and 'best' forum.
Sounds like someone put a p/u on an ol bronk frame?
Seems like the 'bronco' side of it could B left outta
this ele. problem?
Possibly there was a non-alternator problem with the vehicle, what let you know that needed replacement (don't want to go down the wrong street when just gettin to town).
"...bought a new alt and now the wires dont match..."
and what duz that new one look like?
what yr/make/model is the alt for?
depending on the p/u yr there may B schematics on-line somewhere...
Is there any reason why you want to replace the alternator? My advice, because we do not know what you have is to make sure you need an alternator.
If you do, I would take the old one off and then call NAPA and use the casting number on the casing, or tag if available to figure out what you have on the truck and keep what you have.... NumberDummy in this site could help.
