Alternator questions!
Hi,
Looks like my alternator has gone again. I have a 1989 F-150 XLT Larait with a 6I and 5 sp tranny.
I've had this truck since 1992 and this is the third alternator to go. Not bad I guess for that long but was wondering if there is a better alternator than what I can get at NAPA?
Is there an upgrade? Any info on this is appreciated as I'm fixinf to pull and replace.
What about a new wiring harness? I'm in FL anf the heat and humidity is rough on electronics! Thanks!

you might do better at a little independent auto electric alternator starter rebuilding type of shop. there is a 3g alternator upgrade which you can find a tutorial for on this site. that might be a longer term solution for you.

Thanks, I've looked around but can't find anything complete on my vehicle for doing the upgrade (no complete info)
I will probably just get another rebuilt alt. from NAPA and look at my harness and try to up grade to new plugs anyway.
Thought maybe someone here might of replaced their OEM harness???
