So while my last post was a rant on My experience of buying junk via EBAY, this one just happened and while I am not religious have to admit that some higher powers are at work some time
Here is the story: According to the previous owner of my `92 F250 the front fuel tank sending unit stopped working some time in 2001, and it was the only thing not working on this truck when I purchased it last December. I tried filling the tank all the way to the top several times to see if the float might be stuck, but it did not work and my fuel gauge would show empty regardless of the fuel level. Two day ago I filled up both tanks and drove the rear one to quarter full before switching today to the front tank, and (I still don`t believe iT)the fuel gauge is working. Now the sceptical mechanic in me went ape s**t because there has to be an explanation (rational at that) so my fellow forum patrons LET`S HERE IT.
The best explanation wins my newly aquired piece of junk AUTOSDEPO CHROME FRONT GRILLE that does not fit but looks good on the wall, if you are willing to pay for shipping
After 13 years? I have not seen one of the fuel level units, but normally the opposite would happen, and it would rust into place. Maybe the refineries are adding some secret space age lubricant to the fuel, or maybe this climate-change is affecting how materials behave under supposed to be winter but not happening in California kinda conspiracy conditions. Wait, I gotta go out side and check for any chem-trails........
Hell man, that's great. You'll know what it was, in a bit. If it continues to work, the float was probably just stuck. And if it quits again, then you got an intermittent problem with your wiring.
while you slept the night before a cat, 2 dogs, a hippo, 3 pigeons, a dwarf, and 2 fairies came to your house and using a very precise and secret procedure willed, yes i said willed, your fuel gauge to come into operation....if it quits working again go to your local park and yodel for 2 hours to let them know they need to come back and redo the procedure.
seriously i got nuthin lol but i wish the same thing would happen to my rear tank
