New rear speakers?

Has anyone been able to fit a different size rear speaker where the 5x7/6x8 fits without too much modification? I have a Pioneer deck and Kenwood 6.5s in the doors and kenwood 6x8s in the rear sides. The front door speakers are plenty loud, but the problem is I can barely tell there are any speakers in the back, even when the sound is faded to the rear. I remember the big craze when i was a teenager was to have 6x9s in the muscle cars and they were stupid loud! Even my 6.5s would be louder back there if they would fit.

You just need to get quality 6 x 8's. This is the system I have in my '95.

Deck: Alpine CDE-147BT
In Line Amp: Alpine KTP-445A
Front Speakers: Phoenix Gold ... I'll have to pull one to get the model #
Rear Speakers: Alpine SPR-68
