I have a 2006 SCREW with the Audiophile system. I want to replace the speakers. Can anyone please tell me what size the front and rear speakers are before I tear into the door panels?
Anybody have experience with Polk Audio speakers in this application? I used them in my prior Suburban and liked them, but have not compared with comparably priced speakers. Any recommendations?
They should be 6x8 speakers. Your best bet would be to go to Walmart and they have Pioneer 6x8 speakers that are pretty good quality and will fit right in your doors without mods. They are specifically made for Ford and Mazda. I have Infinity's in my Stang and Pioneer in my F150. They are $50 for a pair of 3way 6x8 at Walmart.
i read somewhere you can get 6x9 in the front with abit of trimming, are u planning on running a 4 channel amp? i put a jvc head unit in my screw and a 10'' kicker sub and its sounds pretty good the highs could be a bit cleaner but mids and lows are great i have a set of lanzer tweets i was going to put in and see how it sounds before replacing the actual speakers
I have considered an amp, but am not planning to initially just because of the added cost. may come back later and do. Truth is, i like the system pretty well as is, however, I would like some additional features in the head unit, which then got me to thinking about the speakers too since everyone seems to say aftermarket speakers are much better no matter how good of a factory sytem you may have.
These same speakers can be had at Walmart for $54 bucks
Thanks. Looks like good speakers for the money, and hey, if Wally has them cheaper, then more power to them! I am however thinking that I want to retain component speakers (seperate tweeters) in the front, but could change. The Pioneers would certainly work in the rear though. However, I would want al four speakers from the same manufacturer.
From Crutchfield, it looks like the only 6x8 component speakers are by Infinity and JBL. No issue with either other than they are not on sale. Looks like the largest selection of component speakers are in the smaller round speakers. Also, Polks are on sale and i have had expereince with them before. Just not sure about switching the the round speakers. Guess it should not be an issue given that I also have a sub.

I personally like Boston or MB quart component speakers, but I think they are all pretty good if your not going to run real power to them. I have the pioneers in my truck and it sounds great with an alpine head unit. Its all about how much you want to spend.
Maybe some people want better speakers than Walmart sells? I for one only buy toilet paper at Walmart!
The Pioneer 6x8's I posted are sold at Walmart and they also sell them at Crutchfield. BTW, Walmart carries pretty good electronics these days. I bought my 42 inch LCD HDTV from there and it was $100 cheaper than other retailers.
