what size speakers?

Hello everyone. my wife says I need to give her ideas on X-mas gifts. so I`m looking at upgrading my radio and speakers. looking at the Pioneer double din AVH-X2500BT DVD receiver. no problem here. but I`m looking at what size speakers the X has in it. I can`t seem to find anything definite on line anywhere. I`m looking for Pioneer exact fit speakers for the doors, don`t want the round speakers that need the spacers. I`ve always had Pioneer systems and love the sound.

So my question is.... what size speakers are in the doors. also I have never really checked, but are there another set in the rear quarters? it looks like there are, but I`ve never checked to see if there are! anyone have any input please!

Thanks!

KICKER DS68 6X8" Car Audio Speakers

These are what I have in mine.
Component spekers in the front doors and 2-way in the back.
Only the front doors need a 1/4" spacer to get the window to clear the magnet.

Hind sight..... the rear speakers are mounted in parallel so you will have to get 2 sets of 2 ohm speakers for the rear (makes 4 ohm load) and one set of 4 ohm speakers for the front.

So I was looking at crutchfields website and they say the size is 5X7/6X8, for all locations, but the pioneers do not come up as fitting the front only the rear doors and quarter panel. I did forget to mention that I`m thinking about running the rear door speakers (mid range) on an amp. and then a sub in the rear!

What have others done? and thanks for the info cameeks!

Check your math. I believe that if they are in PARALLEL that you divide it out... two 8 ohm speakers would make a 4 ohm load.

I cheated the front doors and put nuts behind the speaker to shim them out. But I'm sure they sell something or it is easy to make. Didnt think anything of it because I pulled them out of my 01 f150 and put them in my ex. When I pulled up to the security shack at my work I rolled down the window and found out real fast that the speaker didn't clear. It was like I put child locks on the windows.

I also have 10" Kicker Comp CVTs in the barn doors. That was a pain to do.

I have 2 and 3 way Coaxial Pioneers in all OEM Places and they sound
like crap. Im glad that I didnt buy them...I would have eaten my shorts.

The best you can do is to swap to a 16cm round unit. Real 2way.
The hightone unit should be installed on the black mirrow triangles inside, for getting a good stagesound.
If you fear this oval/round conversion thing try to get at least a 2way NON-COAXIAL 6x9" set.
I had in my Dodge Rams these sets and they sound awesome.
Focal Integration iss690
And to use a ton of sounddeadening material in the doors is in any case highly
recommend.

The kicker ks 693 I think they are. They are 3 ways and get loud and clear if u want a quick and easy swap. For true sq a 6.5 and separate tweeter would be the way to go.

Thanks everyone. Another question, does the standard stereo system have a factory amp or is it just wired directly to the speakers? I have the regular am/fm casette and single CD player. When i had my Explorer I wired the speakers directly from the head unit. I think my Explorer had some type of factory amp and i wanted to run the system on dedicated wiring.

Ok thanks. I wasn't sure either. I think i remember some type of audio module/amp in one of the rear quarters on my 95 Explorer, but it's been so long i am not sure. Thought maybe the X had the same thing.

So I need to get qty: 4 of the 8 ohm spec'd speakers?

I have a new headunit, but these 11yr old speakers are utter crap. Not normally a sounds guy, but I at least like to hear my tunes and that is hard to do at the moment

and to clarify, a 6x8 is the correct size with spacers?

Spacers for front only.

If you run all 4 rear speakers then yes to the 4 8ohm speakers.

6x8 will fit with the existing screw in points.

can someone link some decent (ie: cheaper) speakers for the front, and the rear (assuming I use all 4 back speakers)

I can barely wrap my head around what is the proper range, impedence and whatnot. And I keep reading about tweeters, but don't understand their use
