Ok guys I have been chasing a problem with no boost when cold. Looking for something that might leak when cold then swell up when warmed and seal. I noticed that the boot that is on the drivers side down by the intercooler is covered in oil. In fact I felt under it and my hand came away with drips of oil. Is this normal? Could this be the source of my boost problem? Truck runs great after it warms up. Thanks, John
Build a boost leak detector. It is "normal" for the boots to leak oil. It is not desireable per se, but it is normal for a small amount to be at the low point of the boot.
Check this example that JetDoc built. All the stuff is readily available at Home Depot or Lowes.
What kind of air filter are you using? When I upgraded from stock to the AIS I noticed some oil in my intake pipe from the CCV. When the battery was out and I was plumbing everything I noticed my boot was pretty oily too. I cleaned it up and reinstalled everything hoping that with less restriction the CCV won't draw as much oil into the intake. With the extra cold winter I haven't really had a chance to look it over real well but at a glance it seems to be staying cleaner. I will be doing a boost leak check as soon as the weather breaks and gets a little nicer.

I am using the stock air filter. Truck is all stock except for a scan guage and a grille cover. At one point I did disconnect the EBPV. It didn't seem to make much difference so I plugged it back in.
