Basically all of the t-cases bolt up until you get into the pretty new stuff since that's one of the few bolt patterns Ford kept standard. I know the BW1356 bolts up as the one that came off of the 91 ZF5 I bought fit my NP435 and my NP208 fit the ZF.

1345, 1356, etc.
Just be sure you get the same output . (flange or slip yoke)
Some Trucks/Bronco's have the slip in the shaft, others at the transfer case.

Also make sure you have the right shift linkage.

I Googled "NP205 vs NP208" and got this:
Google NP205 and NP208 and you will get plenty to get you started. There are MANY pages with info about these two cases on the internets. NP205= gear driven, cast iron case, 1.96:1 low, very strong T-case. NP208= chain driven, aluminum cased 2.6:1 or so low range not so strong and vulnerable to rocks due to aluminum case.
So it depends on what you are doing. The 208's lighter weight is great if you have to drag it around 99% of the time and then only use it in the snow. The 205's cast iron box is good if you are running big tires and mud bogging.

Yeah I like the 205s a lot we have always ran them but this is the first np208 ive had, I was just concerned about its durability, ive broke the chains in 2 of the newer transfer cases one was in a 1990 f250 and the other was in a 85 idi ever since then ive been leery of chain driven transfer cases so in essence I was wondering if the np208 was any stronger than the newer transfer cases. thanks for your guys input.. Oh and both times I broke the chain was when I was running 38s and the chain broke as soon as the tires got traction, but im running 32s on my f150 now
