Hey guys, im looking to try and get some advice on where to look and what to possibly fix to get my problem to stop. I have a 2001 f150 with a 4.6l. Roughly 140,000 miles. The other day i left work and got into my truck to start it and go home. When i turned it over it fired right up, like always, but then it only idled for a second and it stalled. So I tried to start it again, and the same thing. After a few failed attempts, i decided to hold my foot on the gas once it started, i did this, and it would stay running. So i thought it was good, i took my foot off the gas and it died. So i started it, held my foot on the gas for a few minutes, and it finally stayed running so i drove home. I have had the same issue for 3 days now and i havent been able to find an answer. I replaced the IAC valve about 10,000 miles ago, and just did a fuel filter yesterday.. Anyone have any advice on what to look at? There is no cel on in the truck so i have no codes to go off of either.
Could be the ports to the IAC are just plugged up. Or, you may have gotten a bum IAC. On one of our trucks, a '99 F-150, 4.6, we had a stretch of 3 years or so, that we went through 4-5 IAC valves. The one that functioned the right way is now probably 4 1/2 years old.
well after replacing the fuel filter, and filling the truck up with 91 at the gas station along with some heet in tank i havent had an issue. Been starting and running just fine. I think with this damn cold weather we have been having in MN lately, whatever water may have been in either the tank or lines or both froze.. I honestly dont really know. But all this week i havent had a problem with it.
