Ok...so my 2001 Supercrew has the infamous rusting out underneath in the (rocker panels?) area underneath every one of the doors.....but not on the door itself. My question is, Does anyone have front mudflaps and does it keep most of the salt/snow garbage off of that area? When I bought the truck used, it had the grey platform running boards on it and I didnt care for the look of it, so I took them off..kicking myself now!!!
I put mud flaps on all four wheels of trucks. It does help keep crud off the side of my truck and cuts down on stone chips. I am running a little oversized tires and 4x4. It was well worth the time and expense to do. if you would like to keep that crap off the paint then I'd recomend it. It also deflects stones that the tires might throw otherwise making contact to the painted surface. However it does not stop all of it so you will still get some.
yep x2 thatll help. Also look into LMC truck they got some clear protective liner thatll protect your paint. But based off what iv seen, that road salt gos everywhere. like my girls truck has it like crazy best bet it to just give it a quick rinse afterwards.
Also must remember anytime you are in a salty situation that stuff collects everywhere. If you drill holes to mount mud flaps that is a collection point and future rust spots. If it were me I'd remove them in the spring and clean the area real good and treat any spots that may be bare like the holes... and then put them back on.
