Home Depot rents those small trailers fairly cheap, I say go that route. BTW I'm in same boat, we just got a new front load set, and my wife volunteered without asking me first (I was going to sell on Craig's) but she offered them to her folks, who live 1.5 hrs away.
The best part is her parents have a truck, but won't come to pick them up. So I've got to also take a chance and do it with my truck. I almost thought about paying a service to send them to her folks place (to send a message ya know) but I will likely borrow my neighbors flat bed trailer or rent one at HD for a day.
I have a spray-in liner too, but I'm most worried a bout F-ing up the jamb that is un protected between the tailgate and box-floor. And or denting my box floor etc... I'm with Op, my truck stickers for $52K and is 3/ months new, I would really prefer her parents to come pick the thing up with their beater '06 Chevy.
The reason I bought a truck was to not worry about stuff like this. I understand keeping something nice, but be damned if I'm going to rent a trailer when I have a perfectly good truck that will fit my need for no extra out of pocket. Some of you guys would have a stroke to see what I've loaded in my truck and what it goes through at work, yes even when it was 3 months old, and newer.

I agree BigDaddy.....no reason a washing machine can`t be loaded into the back without destroying the truck.....I`d duct tape the lid shut, lay it on a moving pad on its side, slide it in, strap it down and be done with it

That is one of the nice things about buying used. The previous owner used it like a truck and put the first dings and scrapes in the bed for me. Now I don't have to sweat another one. At some point before spring it will go in for a Linex liner but it is a truck!
