I’m looking at buying a 5.5 super crew but I might occasionally need more truck bed space. Most of the bed extenders don’t seem like they’d be appropriate for our uses. I found a hide a bed extender but they don’t make them anymore. Does anyone make something similar and durable as well
I've never seen one of those before. But I will say I do like it a lot better than the OEM version because it makes the tailgate become part of the bed.
Good luck on your search - maybe someone here will have some insight on finding one or a place that could bend the metal and make one.

Never seen anything like that before. Very interesting.
For simplicity and ease of installation, i`d just go with the OEM Ford extender.
Ask yourself how often will you need something like in the pic that you posted.
With that and 5.5 ft bed you still only have ~7 ft of bed space. This is why I won't buy any truck with the 5.5 ft bed. I want 8 ft with the tail gate down.
