I am doing my own interior. I purchased the former Roddoors headliner panel (a very good fit and is big time complex curves) but am making the remaining panels. I started with a 4 x 8 sheet of Kometex. There are other names. Doing the hardest first, the rear cab corners. I made a buck to heat bend the Komatex over. I am making the complete rear panel in 3 pieces (2 corners and a center under the rear window which I plan to glue together.
This is a first for me. I installed a Lebaron Bonney kit in a 31 Vicky over 35 years ago but have forgotten more than I knew!
I am currently finalizing the passengers side rear corner interior panel. One challenge that came out ok was creating an oval shaped hole for the gas filler pipe to pass thru the panel at the oblique angle thru the sharpest part of the bend. There is a reason that the full Roddoor interior kit cost more than $600! Given the work to make these panels, it is starting to look cheap.
Is that ABS plastic? I did not have very good luck using ABS for mine, too hard to shape. I ended up using aluminum sheet for the corners.....much easier to work with and retains it's shape better.
Keep us posted on your progress, it's looking good!
It is not ABS. The product is Komatex. Another suppliers name is Sintra. It is a material used by trim shops often to make custom panels. As I show in one photo, I just used a heat gun to form the rolled shape. You really can't do the same with ABS.
Luan door skin works also . Wet it , screw it in , leave it .It retains the shape . What was used when doing the interior on the show van . Sprayed contact cement sticks to it well , easier to punch holes for buttons & etc,..See pics in albums ..
